"This one is quite vague...if I recall correctly, it seems to be about people who were exiled/recalled from Atlantis to Earth and are getting ready to try and return. John has been writing Rodney letters (John got a dog, who I think he calls Sue), but isn't sure whether or not Rodney will be joining them as he hasn't answered any of John's letters. Elizabeth is in the story as well."

Someone asked about this in another community and its peaked my interest as I vaguely remember this story. I think John keeps writing Rodney letters, it might even be formatted to look like emails but Rodney ignores them because he's afraid of accidentally giving away his plans to get them back to Atlantis.

Why This Must Be Read: Rodney's on Earth when a frightened, injured and possibly insane Sheppard turns up at his doorstep, with a seemingly unbelievable story of conspiracy involving the SGC. Unsure who to trust, Rodney turns to Daniel for help.

This story has a great dynamic between all three men. I still have a big soft spot for Daniel going back to the early days of SG1, and he's just the right blend of sympathetic, snarky and skeptical. This was written circa SGA season four, so Rodney and Daniel had not yet interacted (much) in canon, but I really like their verbal sparring as depicted here -- they're not really friends yet, but they're taking the first cautious steps towards it. And Rodney's blend of worry and wariness towards Sheppard is pitch-perfect, as he struggles to unravel the truth, caught between his rational mind's insistence that Sheppard must be insane, and the irrational urge to take a leap of faith to help his friend.

I promise to do one of these everyday this week.

A flash of a story just popped into my head. Gen or McShep, because that's 99.9% of what I read.

Something or someone has taken over Teyla, and Rodney is the only one that notices. I remember that one of the reasons he knows or suspects it's not the real Teyla is because she starts using contractions--can't, don't, won't, etc.--in her sentences.

Yes I am there, shockingly under amireal. Woo. No uploads because I have been doing other things like dusting. I felt I should get that done before the dust bunnies developed language skills and a sense of culture.

This afternoon I was napping with a bad headcold when I was jerked awake by a fat woman in a white shirt opening my screen door and walking into my damn apartment, because she was apparently too stupid to turn left instead of right, or to realize after standing there for five seconds that SHE WAS IN SOMEONE'S HOME. I said loudly, "Hey!" and half-attempted to lift my head (I was really groggy, this cold is terrible) and she backed out and I heard her talking to Brian in the alleyway, laughing about how she couldn't take ten steps without going the wrong way. Way to apologize to the B&B owner instead of me, you idiot, especially when it was perfectly obvious that you not only marched into my place but also woke me up.

Argh. I like keeping everything open for the fresh air -- my side door is behind the security gate so it isn't like leaving it open to the public street -- but I obviously shouldn't do that anymore. I'm probably lucky that none of the guests have wandered in here drunk at three in the morning.

Usually the B&B doesn't bother me but sometimes it really, really does. I hope my next apartment isn't so invasively close to the tourists.

I vaguely remember a Highlander fic - Duncan/Methos D/s, I think - where Methos is somehow in pain and seems to be suffering when he's really turned on. Ring any bells?

Why this must be read: This is an example of what a good fusion should be. Lacey has brought the Supernatural characters into the Highlander 'verse, giving them roles that fit the Highlander world without losing what makes them Supernatural characters. While Dean is not a Hunter and Castiel is not an Angel, Lacey keeps them in character, using SPN characters for conflicts that are recognizably SPN conflicts even if they're cloaked in the Highlander mystique. Castiel takes over from Methos as the oldest Immortal who "watches" himself. Dean is a former Marine who is in town after the death of his brother Sam, a Watcher (though he's not aware of this.) He falls into the company of Castiel and through that, adventure and further drama unwinds. You don't really need to know anything about SPN in order to enjoy it, though it will probably enhance your enjoyment since you'll understand the various tensions between the characters, but Lacey does a pretty good job of making it enjoyable for fans of both series.

Pairing: Methos/Jack Harkness/Ianto Jones

Why this must be read: A. Lanart's Mystery 'verse began as a way for Jack to learn how to be an immortal (lower case "i" intentionally.) and evolved into a complex universe that followed the Torchwood canon 'verse, with the addition of Methos. Unlike most fics that cross with Torchwood, Methos doesn't join Torchwood; instead, he visits periodically as friend and lover. It also turns out that Ianto used to be a Watcher, though is presumed dead at Canary Wharf - something that is tangentially important for one of the most sensual scenes in this. Pas de Trois is my favorite of the series and for something that is mostly a PWP, it also holds a lot more. This is the fic that starts the Ianto/Jack/Methos as lovers relationship. What is lovely about this, is the lovely complexity of emotion from all three. By this time, Jack has separate relationships with Methos and Ianto; the decision to add Ianto to the Jack/Methos relationship does not feel forced. You can read this without reading the rest of the 'verse, but the whole 'verse is well worth a read.

It's PWP but it's so much more than that - in this short space the author brings up everything that makes their relationship complicated, addictive, and ridiculously hot. For example it's pretty common to point out that Willow's girlfriend Kennedy has more than a passing resemblance to Faith but it's written so well here you can almost see the sparks between them in the car.

Basically this is the hottest Faith/Willow I've ever read (and I would be lying if I said I hadn't read much)!

Why this must be read: Transgress is a response to a community challenge on lukexsylar and goes into the dynamic between Sylar and Luke. It's unapologetic angst but in the end also very romantic and it shows exactly what fans of this pairing sees in them - exploring their dependence on each other and the power balance. It's also a very in depth character study of Luke while still using few words and letting the readers figure him out themselves. The writing is very beautifully paced and always building until the ending.

It's a tear-jerker and a story I could return to again and again.

Transgress

Hmm. It smells vaguely like part of my building caught fire, and the smoke alarm is going off somewhere.

WHATEVS. I just got back from J2 over at Creation Con, and as I'm sure people are already writing actually good con reports with pictures and whatever, I will just share my three five favorite moments:

1) Someone asked if Sam and Dean are ever going to get the phone call cleared up on screen. Jensen had no clue what the person was talking about, but Jared knew about the fake message shenanigans, and Jensen was all: oh, but wasn't that just in your head? And Jared's all: no, I think Sam really believes in the phone call that lied! Jensen: Maybe you should just ask him. So then Jared pulled a funny face and decided to "Ask Sam" and Sam said that no, Sam didn't know what the real phone message said.

If I'd gotten up and asked a question, it'd have been something along the lines of: When's the show going to acknowledge that if Dean had totes just let Sam die, Sam would've probably gone to Heaven at that point, and Dean wouldn't have broken the first seal, and if Castiel hadn't let Sam out in the first place, then HEY MAYBE MORE PEOPLE THAN SAM should be glared at so much of the time for startin' the apocalypse.

But I refrained! Jensen's answer (where he had absolutely no clue about ANYTHING) strangely made me feel better about Dean.

2) Someone asked "if you were both available, and had to write each other's match.com profiles, what would you say about the other?" And they skated around it very nicely with:

Jared: Texas. Will take anything!
Jensen: I can do it in three words too! Single. White. Female.

3) Someone asked them what dreams they hadn't accomplished yet, and Jensen got all succinct and soft about it, and said "Kids." And Jared agreed, and the thought of little Ackles and little Padalecki babies, omg. Jensen said that Jared won't be allowed to babysit because of a comment he made about throwing the kid--out of a plane? something. I somehow think Jensen will come around.

4) Jared got all sweaty and Jensen mocked him, so someone gave him a box of kleenex that he shoved down his shirt, and Jensen snatched a tissue, while Jared tossed his behind him, and I keep thinking that one of those tissues is gonna wind up on ebay. Or in a picture frame.

5) Jensen talked about when he was doing Sam's post-death scene, Kim blocked off the entire set with a black tarp, so it was just a camera in the corner that he couldn't see, and Jared and Jensen in the room, and he talked about how amazing that was and how much that helped him. Sigh.

Oh, and at the end, Jared discussed his mom's charity in Texas, and said he'd be auctioning off Sam's S3 watch, and one of the Creation people had them do the auction right then and there, and Jared was all: I don't know how! And Jensen went for it in full auctioneer mode, and some awesome lady in the front row bought that thing for $2500.00 (maybe 3500?) and Jared totally looked like he was going to cry and went down there and said a few words to her personally.

In conclusion: Boys. \o/ They were both adorable, and they both really *tried* to give great answers, and no one asked any terrible questions that made me want to beat them, and Jensen even said he'd love to do this all day. SUCCESS.

Why this must be read:

Another kinkme_merlin fic that is so much more than just the regular brilliant porn. The basic prompt was: "Arthur/Merlin, reincarnation, one time they get re-born as brothers." and true to kinkmeme standards there is a lot of sex, but it's the emotional connection, the gut-wrenching, transgressive force of their love that makes the reader come back for more.

This fic isn't happy fun-times, what with the two boys being brothers. derryere puts the characters through emotional hell and it pays off magnificently. Don't miss out on this gem of a story.
