Is anyone else squicked by the whole "john-farr" thing? I hope this fad passes QUICKLY. YEEEUGH.

I "get" what they're doing -- it's a ritual way to excuse people for having sex all the time, because, lord only knows fandom needs MORE excuses for stupid sex -- but it's the execution.

I looked at a few of the fics, and they were mostly meh, whatever, usual mcshep crap, but there's one where Kavanagh doesn't have the sex drive because, of course, he's this mutant freak or somesuch, which doesn't matter because everyone hates him...

So, only the "good" people get this idiotic sex drive?

Wow, that is skeevy. Rodney's required to have sex with anyone as part of his job (although of course his true love is John)? Yeah, it's not weird at all to do that with a character most valued for his planet-sized brain. I'm looking at some of the fics now and I'm getting some weird vibes about the women, too. Evil Sam Carter causes the breakup of SG-1 because she threatens the OTP of Jack/Daniel.

I won't even get into the huge biological issues, or just how silly it is to say that society is going to look anything at all like ours when there's such a huge difference.
