As if I don't have 1001 unfinished fics ...

Someone, somewhere (maybe even one of you) posted a "which of these fictional people would you have sex with" meme and when SGA's Lorne was mentioned, they sort of did a "mine! mine! mine!" -- to which i can completely relate.

But that got me thinking --- Everyone thinks he's such a good little soldier. In canon he screws up now and again, but he's generally considered the reliable 2nd. In fanon he's Sheppard's go-to boy, always mopping up after him, whether it's a mission gone wrong or, well, whatever.

So I started thinking... What if he's got this really nasty streak that rarely pops out? But when it does, hoo boy, watch out.

I started pondering the "Gets drunk, acts like asshole" thing, but that's so typical and cliche (and, hey, that's most of the people I've dated (-: ). I'm now trying to figure out what his Nasty Streak is and where it can crop up and make people just go, "Whoa. Didn't see THAT coming."

Remember that time he and Zelenka were playing with The Game, even though he knew that they were, in fact, fucking around with real live people? That's a bit sketchy right there. Or there's the episode where John turns into a bug, where he just tosses a grenade behind him without even trying to save those two redshirts? I bet there's something to work with in that...

And now I find myself thinking about what sort of nasty streak I could give him in my Big Lorne Plus SamnDean & The Clone fic.

Plus, he was accusing Radek of lying to him. He yells something like, "I think you really do have food!" when Zelenka says he's trying to take all his food away.

oooh. ooooh.

Both of these are feeding my brain. THANKS.

MUHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Let's see, what else... in one of the last episodes of Season 4, I get the feeling that Lorne really would have let Teyla tell everyone that the guy they were interrogating was a Wraith worshipper and left him to be torn apart by an angry mob. Lorne also lets McKay rewrite history in order to save John and Teyla.

Oh - and then there's "Tabula Rasa", where he turns into a pill-popping jackbooted thug. Sure, he was a little bit high and said he was sorry afterwards, but no one else seemed to get quite so wacky. Well, no one but Zelenka, but that was a pretty justified since Lorne really was trying to hunt him down. On the other hand, as soon as he realized John was in charge, he snapped into 'obey orders' mode. That's probably important.

In short, while Lorne may look innocent, he has no problems at all using force or sacrificing lives to protect those he values. He also has no problem manipulating large groups in order to do what he thinks is right. In fact, he may even enjoy doing that.

Hmm... it could be something like this. With John Sheppard, if you piss him off or threaten his people he'll shoot you. Do the same with Lorne, even in a social context - say, threaten to turn someone in under DADT - and he's just keep smiling and looking innocent. Then he'll quietly proceed to completely destroy your life. A couple words to friendly high-ranking officers - who all love Lorne, of course - plus a couple of well-place paperwork salvos, and then next thing you know, your career is over, your wife and kids have left you, your entire life is in shambles, and eating your service weapon looks pretty attractive.

John will avoid causing casualties, even when it may be necessary. Oh, he'll burn down a village in a rescue mission, but that'll be by accident and he'll feel like shit afterwards. Lorne's team never is forced to do it by aliens, because he'll be perfectly fine opening fire on a bunch of guys with bows. In "Sateda", there would have been none of that fleeing to the gate crap. He would have fired, mowed down the village's entire male population, and retreated in a controlled fashion - probably while calculating in his head how much naquadah is needed to turn the entire area into a radioactive wasteland for the next thousand years.

... and now I'm really going to have to write this, too.

Now what's got wrapped around my mind is that no matter how I write this, people will scream that I'm writing OOC.

Wait, I meant, "people."

But that's for another post. *sigh*

Eh. If 'people' can't handle the fact that Lorne has several scenes that indicate he's not a complete boyscout, then I'm not really sure their opinion is worth acknowledging.
